Valencia CF and the Fundació VCF stand with those affected by cancer, supporting patients and advancing scientific research
February 4th marks World Cancer Day
As part of World Cancer Day, celebrated every 4 February, Valencia CF and the Fundació VCF once again want to show their support for everyone directly and indirectly affected by cancer, as well as highlight the importance of scientific research to improve treatments and reach a 70% survival rate by 2030, as stated by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
For this reason, the two organisations invited this week to Mestalla as part of the Club’s ‘ADN Mestalla Solidari’ initiative, launched in the 2021/22 season, are: IVO (Valencian Institute of Oncology; entity no. 84) and Las Triples (breast cancer; entity no. 85). The first one will attend the Valencia CF–Athletic Club Copa fixture, and the second one will attent the Valencia CF–Real Madrid CF LALIGA match.
In addition, the Valencia CF men’s and women’s first teams wore the ‘Bracelets of Hope’ (green) in their matches last Sunday against Real Betis and Real Oviedo, supporting the AECC initiative.
The aim is to replace the symbol of mourning with one of hope and survival, transforming one of the symbols most closely associated with the disease. The green ribbon becomes a badge representing the lives that can be saved if the 70% survival rate target is achieved.
Every year, Valencia CF and the Fundació VCF collaborate with AECC–Comunitat Valenciana in its annual fundraising campaign, scheduled for May.
Likewise, several Valencian organisations and/or organisations based in Valencia linked in some way to cancer have taken part in ‘ADN Mestalla Solidari’, with the Club recognising and raising awareness of their important social work: Amunt contra el Cáncer, Dragon Boat Marina Valencia, Fundación Pequeño Deseo, Fundación Aladina, INCLIVA, Casa Ronald, and Aspanion.
